The WET Deck® at W Sydney, located in The Ribbon building at Darling Harbour, features a 28.5 metre heated infinity pool by Crystal Pools.
Located on level 30, this rooftop oasis offers panoramic 180 degree views of Darling Harbour and the Sydney city skyline.
The Ribbon, known for its curved, ribbon-like design, was a $1billion development and the pool is a centrepiece to the 588 room hotel. W Hotels’ largest flagship hotel.
The wetdeck area is accessible only by hotel guests but is visible by all patrons.Fully tiled with glass mosaic in pixelated tile artwork depicting jellyfish, its an artwork as much as a floor finish, requiring specialist installation.
With exceptional views over Darling Harbour forecourt, constructing a pool of this scale at height presented challenges well beyond those of a conventional build. The structural load of a water-filled pool on an upper floor demands precise engineering of the slab below, with waterproofing systems required to perform flawlessly in a permanently wet environment over the long term.
The WET Deck stands as the centrepiece to this project, demonstrating what Sydney’s construction community can deliver.
