Aquatic Centre refurbishment – Blackheath

This major Aquatic Centre refurbishment was completed in 2005 and included demolition of the existing 50m swimming pool and the construction of a new 25m pool.

Stringent guidelines were followed in the restoration of the heritage listed leisure pool with the addition of an innovative new UFF filtration plant.

The Blackheath Council swimming pool started its life back in the days when the area provided water for steam engines, as the site is fed by a natural spring. It was converted into a swimming pool in the 1940s and is a heritage listed site within a park in the picturesque Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.
