Blackheath Aquatic Centre refurbishment - Blue Mountains
The Blackheath council swimming pool started its life when the area provided water for steam engines, as the site is fed by a natural spring. It was converted into a swimming pool in the 1940s and is a heritage listed site set in a park in the picturesque Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.
This major redevelopment was completed in 2005 and included demolition of the existing 50m swimming pool and the construction of a new 25m pool. Stringent guidelines were followed in the restoration of the heritage listed leisure pool with the addition of a innovative new UFF filtration plant.
